We are recruiting for a Purchase Orders Supervisor to join our shared service centre called the NDM finance shared service centre (FSSC) comprising of 16 members of staff.

Reporting directly to the NDM Finance Team Manager, you will manage a team of 2 Purchase Order Officers and 2 Purchase Assistants to deliver against the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for your function. You will be fully responsible for day to day management, Personal Development Reviews (PDRs) and training, leading the team towards a “right first time” culture while looking to improve efficiency and continuous improvement. This role works closely with Finance Managers based in 15 units and the University’s Purchasing Department (UPD).

You will be responsible for creating training plans for the Purchase Order Officers and Purchasing Assistants by identifying training gaps to develop individuals in your team and encourage professionalism through AAT, CIPS or similar qualifications. You will be tasked with ensuring all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the University’s Finance regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with all necessary external regulations and requirements. You will also be entrusted to optimise your team efficiencies by changing ways of working and better utilisation of systems. You will be overseeing the production of a daily record of electronic orders for stores and goods-in staff to reference against.

It is essential that you are educated to at least GCSE standard or equivalent in English and Maths. You will have an excellent understanding of purchase order processing within an ERP system, as well as the ability to produce a consistently high standard of work, with particular evidence of ability to work accurately with attention to detail. You will be highly organised with excellent time management skills and demonstrable ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload to meet competing deadlines. Finally, you will have Good computer skills, including Word and Excel, strong analytical skill and experience of interpreting and applying financial policies into effective operating procedures.
