Employment Type: 1.0 FTE working 32.5 hours per week

Duration of Contract:  Initial 1-year fixed term contract (renewable annually)

Annual Leave: 50 days annually (Spring and Summer Holidays) plus standard public holidays

Location: Hertfordshire College, Changzhou Institute of Technology based in the Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, P. R. China

Changzhou Institute of Technology (referred to as CIT) is a public full-time Higher Education Institution approved by the Ministry of Education in China. It is located in the economically vibrant Yangtze River Delta region, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China. Hertfordshire College, CIT is a Sino-foreign joint institute established by the University of Hertfordshire and CIT, it jointly designs and delivers programmes leading to awards from both the University of Hertfordshire and CIT. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in China, and enrols maximum of 240 undergraduate students across all 3 programmes every year.

Hertfordshire College, CIT offers three engineering programmes: BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BEng (Hons) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering. All degree programs offered at Hertfordshire College, CIT are subject to validation by the University of Hertfordshire and quality assurance and enhancement mechanisms all mirror those at the University of Hertfordshire. 

Main duties and responsibilities

  1. To undertake teaching, learning and assessment.
  2. To design engaging teaching activities which support student learning.
  3. To set and mark formative and summative assessments to support student learning.
  4. To inform curriculum development within the Programmes, including the revision of existing modules. To contribute to the introduction of new modules and the introduction of new or revised teaching and/or assessment methods and marketing materials related to the programmes.
  5. To attend, and contribute to, Programme Committee Meetings, Programme Team Meetings and other subject group meetings and working groups as required.
  6. To attend the Module Boards of Examiners.
  7. To assist in the provision of academic and pastoral support for students.
  8. To facilitate direct communication with students and support communication from other departments within the Hertfordshire College, CIT.
  9. To attend and support colleagues at Open Days, Induction events and other activities to promote the programme(s).
  10. To undertake research and scholarly activities, as appropriate.
  11. Such other duties as may be required by the Dean.
