Placed On: 9th April 2024

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Microsoft 365 Developer within Digital & Technology Services. This is a permanent appointment. Reporting to the Implementation and Support Manager, and working closely with the Microsoft 365 Product Engineer, the role holder will manage, support, and develop solutions within the Microsoft 365 environment, particularly focusing on SharePoint, Power Automate, and PowerApps.

The role involves working effectively with various stakeholders to realise the One Dundee approach. Digital & Technology Services are currently undertaking a significant multi-year investment in new & improved services across the university. As part of this we are expanding our team and are looking for outstanding candidates to join us. You will be joining a team which is at the centre of the next stage of the university’s growth.

Your priorities will include:

  • Engage actively with users and stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements. This involves liaising with various departments to gather detailed requirements for SharePoint, Power Automate, and PowerApps solutions, ensuring that the developed solutions align with user expectations and business objectives.
  • Translate user requirements into practical, implementable solutions using the capabilities of SharePoint, Power Automate, and PowerApps.
  • Ensure that all M365 solutions and project changes are thoroughly tested and are fit for purpose before being deployed to the production environment. This involves coordinating with the operations teams to ensure that new solutions are ready for ongoing support and align with the existing IT infrastructure.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation for all developed solutions, adhering to the required standards. This includes maintaining accurate configuration records and ensuring that knowledge is effectively transferred to both the IT team and end-users. This priority is crucial for sustaining the longterm usability and maintainability of M365 solutions within the university.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for security within the M365 environment. This includes regular security assessments of SharePoint, Power Automate, and PowerApps solutions, ensuring that they are secure against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure that all M365 solutions comply with relevant data protection and privacy regulations, such as GDPR. This involves understanding the legal requirements and implementing measures to protect sensitive data, particularly in the context of a university handling sensitive information.

Who we’re looking for:

  • An enthusiastic and motivated individual
  • Ability to manage workloads under pressure and to tight deadlines with an analytical and systematic approach to investigating problems and resolving issues.
  • Experience of translating technical requirements and specifications into easily understood business concepts and vice versa.
  • Relevant ICT/service delivery management experience of working in an ITIL-based framework.
