The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 570 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have recently been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024.
Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.
The University of Glasgow’s College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences is embarking on an ambitious and exciting journey and you could work with us to achieve our goal.
We are currently seeking a Research Support Manager within the College to lead and develop an effective and efficient pre- and post-award research management service to our researchers across the College.
About the role
As a Research Support Manager, you will lead and manage the development of a team of Research Support staff providing dedicated support to our research community. This key position is integral to the development and successful delivery of the University's professional research support service.
In addition to managing the Research Support team, you will play a crucial part in supporting Principal Investigators (PIs) in securing funding for their research endeavours. You will be responsible for providing specialist pre- and post-award advice and support, overseeing complex applications, and maintaining strategic relationships with key funders. You will also coordinate, plan, prioritise and execute application, costing and submission activities for grants and contracts, resulting in robust applications for approval and submission to funders.
About you
We are keen to hear from candidates who have an understanding of grant application processes, including costing and funder guidelines, ideally gained within a Higher Education environment. With experience of relevant research administration or project management experience in a similar or related role, you will have a proven track record of managing and developing teams. Project management skills – both short-term deadline-driven and longer term – are essential, as is experience of preparing costing models and tracking budgets.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week, Monday- Friday) and open-ended (permanent). Please note that two positions are available.
For an informal discussion about this exciting role, please contact Donna Lammie (donna.lammie@glasgow.ac.uk).
Closing Date: 23:45 on Wednesday 8th May 2024
