Job Summary

The Research Fellow will assist in designing, conducting, and interpreting large-scale clinical trials and systematic reviews with an overall goal of developing evidence-based recommendations that will improve the health of millions of women and men, both in the UK and more broadly.

Multiple Long-Term Conditions (a.k.a. Multimorbidity) or the coexistence of two or more health conditions in an individual has been overlooked as an important cause of early death and disability.

One of our aims of is to determine whether treatment of specific diseases is affected by the presence of other diseases in multimorbid condition clusters and to conduct efficient clinical trials to test potential preventive and therapeutic interventions for men and women with multiple, long-term conditions.

You will join our team of statisticians, epidemiologists, clinical research fellows, data scientists, health systems scientists, PhD students and support staff, and will be expected to contribute to various large-scale projects.

Duties and responsibilities

  • With a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, data science, or a related subject with a quantitative emphasis or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
  • You will be expected to lead and design research studies with the field of multimorbidity using data from several hundred thousand (or even millions) of individuals (clinical trials, disease registries, cohort studies, primary care records, biobanks and systematic reviews and meta-analyses).           

Essential requirements

  • You should have experience of analysing large-scale clinical trials, administrative databases or routinely collected health-related datasets.
  • Knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures
  • Practical experience within a research and clinical trial environment and / or publications in relevant and refereed journals;
