Council is seeking to appoint up to five independent members and up to seven co-opted members to its standing committees (1 x Audit and Risk Committee, 2 x Finance and Resources Committee, 2 x Governance, Nominations and Ethics Committee, 2 x Remuneration Committee).
Council is the supreme governing body and trustees for the university. Standing committees use co-option to enhance expertise and experience and, at the university, co-opted members are also eligible for succession to membership of Council if the opportunity arises.
We are looking for talented candidates with relevant and demonstrable expertise in the running of innovative and complex businesses, specifically in the following areas:
We pride ourselves on our inclusive culture and value diversity, in backgrounds, in experiences, and in cognitive thinking. Our differences make us stronger, and together we share a passion for improving students’ lives. You will challenge and provide insight to the Executive based on your experience.
These are non-remunerated roles; however, all reasonable expenses are covered (only UK-based candidates may apply). Members are appointed for a three-year term (which may be renewed for a further two terms).
You will be expected to attend campus (Salford) several times a year, with the remainder of meetings taking place virtually.
In return for your time and participation, we can offer you the chance to make a real difference. We provide support, a comprehensive induction package, and where applicable, will help develop your non-executive director experience (in general, or in the higher education sector).
