Applications are invited for the position of Quality Laboratory Technician in the Radiopharmaceutical Unit (RPU), Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre, a Major Imaging Research Facility within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The key function of the RPU is to manufacture short-lived radiopharmaceuticals to the high standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for the clinical imaging technique of Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

You will work within the Quality Team and be responsible for supporting and assisting with quality control and quality assurance duties related to the production of Carbon-11 and Fluorine-18 radiopharmaceuticals, using HPLC, GC and other analytical equipment, following SOPs. The role holder will provide general laboratory and clean room maintenance, including preparation of chemicals for routine use, managing stock control of consumables and disposal of waste chemicals.

In addition, the post holder will support the QA Chemist in managing the electronic Quality Management System, to include the collection of supporting documents i.e. SOPs and validations; ensuring records such as staff training and production batches are logged and tracked.  

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of HNC or equivalent in a science subject, preferably chemistry, Knowledge and Experience of working with an electronic Quality Management System, such as QPulse, or similar. Attention to detail is essential for the QA checks and inspections conducted in the Unit. Some knowledge of working under GMP requirements is desirable. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team, with the ability to work on your own initiative and organize time & workload accordingly.  You will also be motivated, reliable and have good communication skills and excellent record keeping skills.
