The School of Natural Sciences are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor within the discipline of Zoology with an excellent research record in wildlife distribution modelling. Global climate change and habitat destruction are rapidly changing the distribution and abundance of organisms around the globe. Statistical, analytical and simulation modelling of complex systems and the collection, curation and analysis of “big data” in ecology and environmental sciences is increasingly important. Accordingly, this role represents an opportunity to link statistics/computing/data science and biodiversity/ecology/evolution/palaeontology towards relevant major environmental and societal challenges.

As a fundamental aspect of E3 teaching and research, we aim to build on a track record of excellence in this field. Candidates with successful research achievements and potential in field and/or laboratory-based wildlife distribution modelling are invited to apply. Areas of expertise may include biodiversity, ecology, data science, modelling and digital technologies for monitoring populations and communities across spatial scales.

Post Status Tenure Track – This position is Tenure Track positions which is 5-years in the first instance, permanency is subject to satisfying the tenure requirements.

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Lecturer Salary Scale (109BN) commensurate with qualifications / experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy [€39,469 to €95,441 per annum] www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf
