About the department/faculty/organisational unit
The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) Swinburne is a multi-disciplinary research centre based at Swinburne University of Technology. Our research strives toward positive social change through improving the systemic and organisational conditions that shapes communities.

CSI Swinburne was established in 2014 to contribute to Swinburne University of Technology’s mission to create social and economic impact through science, technology, and innovation. We form part of the national CSI network; a partnership between the University of New South Wales, University of Western Australia,  and Swinburne University of Technology.

About the job
The purpose of this position is to contribute to growing the research capacity and impacts of the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) Swinburne. The appointee will be primarily involved in contributing to the research in the area of evaluation and social impact measurement, both independently and as part of small teams.

The position is expected to assume project leadership responsibilities in relation to grant funded and commissioned research, and to undertake administrative and other activities associated with research. To a lesser extent the appointee will contribute to the Centre's engagement activities both within and outside the University, and contribute to supervision of postgraduate and honours candidates as appropriate.

  • social investment and philanthropy
  • enterprise for social goals
  • measuring social impact

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A PhD in business or social sciences, or a cognate area
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to high quality research of national or international significance in at least one of the areas of: social enterprise or evaluation and measuring social impact.
  • Ability to manage funding relationships that support applied research with government, philanthropy, community and/or business.
