Philosophy at Newcastle University (http://www.ncl.ac.uk/philosophy) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual, to commence in September 2018, with a desire to develop the provision of the subject and to contribute to the innovative object-based personalized learning that distinguishes the programme. You will be expected to contribute to the B.A. and M.Litt. degree programmes in Philosophy and to have a broad knowledge of the modern European philosophical tradition.  We are looking for a teacher who has the skills to deliver engaged courses, facilitate quality learning and motivate students.  You will be expected to have the ability to teach and lead modules in all areas of philosophy and also undertake scholarship-led teaching, preferably in one or more of the following areas: history of modern philosophy, moral and political theory, empiricism, and feminism, although other areas will be considered.

You must possess a Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related subject, as well as a significant and highly rated record of teaching in higher education.  You should ideally have several years of teaching experience and relevant subject expertise. You will be expected to play a key role in the delivery and management of learning and teaching in Philosophy. You will be involved in the development of a range of high-quality teaching and learning activities and resources, as well as provide learning support and pastoral care to students. The ability to work to deadlines, work with others, and good communication skills are essential.

This post is full-time and fixed-term from 1 September 2018 for up to 12 months.
