The HR team at the University of Salford is evolving and we now have some new and exciting opportunities to join the team as we build our reputation. We have the opportunity to make a significant difference to the experience colleagues have at the University by developing and delivering a people strategy, projects and change plans that have a positive impact and create a step change in culture, based on behaviours. We are at an interesting time for the Higher Education sector where there is significant change in terms of oversight, student expectations, and changing demographics. We are trying to do things differently, so that we stay ahead of these changes, to ensure we are sustainable into the future. Our leading strategy of Industry Collaboration is key to this, keeping Salford’s industrial heritage at the heart of our organisation and creating real world experiences that prepare our students for life.
We have a great team in place, who are committed to change, are passionate about the University, and who are committed to working together to the benefit of all. We want to grow this team and bring in people with different experience and knowledge to add to and enhance our service. If you have never worked in the Higher Education sector then you should, it is not like any other and it is a challenge every day. It is not for the faint hearted and although there are some great benefits, it is hard work and fast paced. Working in this sector is really rewarding, yes, we are now more of a customer service, commercial focused sector, but we are all part of something exciting, we are all part of influencing someone’s life.
We are now looking to appoint a Senior Employee Relations Specialist to focus on helping us change our Employee Relations culture and approach. You will be focused on ensuring that the individual and collective framework between the University and its employees is managed appropriately, within a clear framework underpinned by organisational culture, practices, polices, and ultimately by relevant law. We are looking for someone to undertake this role who has experience in building strong relationships with trade unions, both in informal and formal settings. You will also have a focus on helping us make a step change in employee relations casework, and in helping drive forward significant policy work to underpin significant cultural change within the University.
The closing date for this position is 2 September 2018 and interviews will take place on 13 September 2018.
All appointments will be made on merit, and as an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.
In recognition of our commitment to create a diverse team that draws from our widest talent pool we would particularly encourage applications from groups who are currently under-represented at this level, which in this case is our Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) applicants.
