Applications are invited for the post of Research Facilitator, to support the research activities of the Mathematical Institute.
This post presents an exciting opportunity to develop a career in research support, working in one of the world’s leading mathematics departments. Research Facilitation supports the research activities of the Mathematical Institute by identifying research opportunities and managing research grant applications for a large population of academic staff and researchers. It also contributes to departmental responses to external initiatives. The Research Facilitation group comprises four research facilitators (including this post) all of whom work closely with academic and research staff and the department’s wider administrative team.
You will be expected to develop and sustain a comprehensive understanding of the department's research portfolio at a detailed level, and of the sponsored-research environments in the UK and abroad.
Reporting to the Head of Research Facilitation, you will be responsible for managing grant applications and providing assistance to applicants, and will assist in discharging the wider duties of the group as they relate to the smooth running of the department.
The successful candidate will have a good first degree or equivalent experience and a high level of numeracy together with knowledge of the research funding environment, and experience of working co-operatively with peers and senior academics in connection with grant writing, or the facilitation or management of funded research projects.
