UECS – Day Nursery
Set in the peaceful surroundings of Wivenhoe Park at our Colchester Campus the Day Nursery offers high quality care and education to children from 3 months to 5 years. We are open to the general public, University staff and students.
We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Forest Schools Practitioner to join our pre-school team in leading and implementing regular Forest Schools sessions. The setting is lucky enough to have access to the beautiful facilities and surroundings of the University of Essex Colchester Campus, including a lake, wooded areas and open spaces.
Duties of the Role
You will work with the Nursery management team to develop, implement and lead Forest schooling in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the nursery.
Responsibilities will include planning and implementing learning opportunities specific to the needs of the ages and stages of development of the children, assessing and recording their progress of learning through a Forest School approach, risk assessing the Forest School experience and implementing the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will hold an NNEB or NVQ Level 3 Childcare or equivalent, A Level 3 Certificate in Forest School Programme Leadership and a certificate in Paediatric First Aid.
Experience of working with all age ranges of children under 5 and good knowledge and understanding of the Forest Schools approach to learning are essential for this post, along with having the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and the ability to plan and organise effectively.
