Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience is

  • the research center fostered by Ikerbasque and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU),
  • devoted to the training and research in the biology of the neuron-glia interaction,

  • so we can contribute, in collaboration with other agents, in the discovery of new therapies for brain diseases.

Main functions
ACHUCARRO is a research organisation is development so is willing to receive application from excellent scientists interested in the advance of knowledge in the field of neurobiology, and in particular on glial cells (neuron - glia interactions, microglia, astroglia / astrocytes, oligodendroglia / oligodendrocytes, etc). Researchers on any stage of their researcher career can find research groups, infrastructure and equipment to set their professional goals in our environment.

Requisites
ACHUCARRO is not a general neuroscience research organisation so we are looking for people with some experience on glial cell research. Best candidates will have a strong background in brain biology and use of usual methodologies and equipment for gene, molecular al cell biology in in vitro and in vivo paradigms. ACHUCARRO is an international centre, so a profient English level is a requiste for all the applicants.

Currently, the way to join our centre is based on the success of candidates on external competitive calls for contracting researchers, where ACHUCARRO can be a host institution. Together with the CV or resume of the candidate, we use both to assess the alignment of the applicant with the Research Strategy of ACHUCARRO. If our selection panels decide to support a candidate, the Research Statement is considered as a contract between the researcher and ACHUCARRO, in terms of the career development and follow-up of each person. We also provide support with the different application processes to those applicants that pass our internal selection process.
