In order to cover staff maternity leave, the Department of Sociology is looking to recruit one temporary sociologist (12 months, 1.0fte) with the ability to offer lectures on core and optional criminology modules at undergraduate level. An ability to also contribute to our postgraduate urban sociology programme MA Cities & Society would be an advantage.
You may be requested to contribute to our teaching on further core modules for undergraduate students studying our BA Sociology (http://www.gold.ac.uk/ug/ba-sociology/) degrees, and/or our BA Criminology (http://www.gold.ac.uk/ug/ba-criminology/). You will join one of the largest and most innovative Sociology Departments in the UK offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an institution specialising in the social sciences, arts and humanities. You will be expected to participate fully in departmental life.
You will have a PhD, teaching experience, and appropriate demonstrable research expertise. Salary: Grade 7 £38,454 - £42,852 (Lecturer A) or Grade 8 £45,279 – £51,919 (Lecturer B) per annum
The post will be on basis of Teaching & Research or Teaching & Scholarship depending on Research Profile of the successful candidate (to be discussed with the HOD).
The salary quoted above is inclusive of London weighting. The initial salary award will be dependent on the skills and experience and expertise of the successful applicant as detailed within the job description.
