Job Summary 

Imperial College Business School Careers supports over 2,000 post-graduate students. An opportunity has arisen to join Careers to support our students and alumni in their career success. You will work with students and alumni across 14 MSc programmes, as well as alumni of MBA programmes, providing career advice and support and delivering workshops on a range of career-related topics. 

While you will support all students, regardless of their desired location, you will have a specific focus on those who are looking for positions in the Asia-Pacific region. A Mandarin speaker, you will ensure students who wish to work in APAC (primarily China, Hong Kong and South East Asia) after graduation are appropriately prepared to compete effectively in the labour market and secure positions at top-tier graduate and MBA employers.

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Provide one-to-one support to students and alumni in helping them develop a career and job-searching strategy for roles in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Prepare students to be successful in the job market and in their on-going career by delivering workshops and small group sessions on a range of career-related topics
  • Work with our China-based Careers Consultant to build positive relationships with employers and recruiters in APAC in order to assist students to be competitive in the selection process and to increase the number of job opportunities open to Business School graduates in the region
  • Lead on the support provided to recent graduates of MBA and selected MSc programmes by providing 1:1 career consultations 

Essential requirements

  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Have a professional working proficiency in Mandarin – so that you are able to communicate effectively with employers as well as provide feedback to students & alumni
  • Have experience of either living or working in the APAC region
  • Have significant experience in graduate recruitment
  • Be knowledgeable or have experience of careers guidance, advising or coaching either gained from a similar role in higher education or in recruitment
  • Be a confident presenter
  • Have an understanding of the key issues affecting the career choices of international students
