The Departments of Accounting and Finance provide a long established BSc degree in Accounting and Finance. The Departments provide one-year full-time postgraduate programmes leading to the MSc International Accounting and Finance, with two new pathways in collaboration with Kaplan offering preparation for ACCA’s professional exams, and the MSc Investments degrees and MSc Financial Management degrees. We also offer BSc Accounting and Finance programmes in Singapore and Dubai. The Departments provide research programmes leading to a PhD qualification on both full-time and part-time bases. It has a vibrant community of research students, many of whom are sponsored by external agencies or supported through internal schemes.
The post is open to those wishing to combine research and teaching activities. The successful post-holder will be expected to develop and undertake their own programme of research activities leading to high quality research publications and to become involved in the generation of research income and the promotion of research and knowledge exchange activities. The post-holder will teach and examine accountancy subjects across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and will be expected to undertake the full range of responsibilities in relation to supervision, marking and examining. The post-holder will contribute to the management of a major activity at Departmental or School level.
Applications are welcome from all areas of accounting. Candidates offering expertise in auditing, financial reporting, taxation, or public sector accounting are especially encouraged to apply but expertise in management accounting, accounting history and social & environmental reporting are also encouraged.
Applicants should have a PhD (or be working towards one) relevant to the post and/or a higher degree with equivalent professional accounting qualifications. Applicants should have evidence of the potential to conduct accounting research of an international standard. Applicants should have a record of successful teaching and learning experience; preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants should be able to demonstrate high level analytical capability, the ability to design and deliver module materials successfully, use and implement innovative teaching and learning approaches, to assess and organise resources effectively and evidence of an ability to undertake related administration and contribute to broader management/administration processes.
