The School of Psychology wishes to appoint an enthusiastic Lecturer to provide professional tuition and to participate in all aspects of the DEdPsy Programme.

Candidates will:

  • be fully qualified educational psychologists;
  • have at least three years of experience of working as an educational psychologist;
  • be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS);
  • be  registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC); and
  • currently be employed as a practising educational psychologist

The School of Psychology at Cardiff University is keen to continue to embed the educational psychology programme within the teaching and research environment in the School, alongside ensuring that the programme team influences positively the changing demands for the training and professional development of educational psychologists in Wales.

On the DEdPsy Professional Training Programme there is teaching in the areas of assessment: learning; social, emotional and mental health needs; research methods, the role of the EP and working with organisations, systems and groups. The individual appointed will be responsible for providing teaching input to trainees on a particular theme, as well as making a teaching contribution to other aspects of the programme, organising and participating in varied curriculum events such as mini conferences and carrying out professional tutor duties, for example, supervising trainees and assessing their work.  The topic to be taught will be discussed following the appointment of a suitable candidate.

The individual appointed will also take on a role as an internal and external examiner for the programme.

The appointment will be from 1st September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
