This post is suitable for a mid-career scientist with a background in climate modelling who wants to gain experience in the scientific management of large projects and collaborations. The post holder will provide scientific assistance to the Project Coordinator and Project Scientist for the European project: Infrastructure for the European Network for Earth System modelling (IS-ENES.)

The post holder will provide scientific assistance to the Project Coordinator (Professor Sylvie Joussaume, CNRS, Paris) and Project Scientist (Professor Bryan Lawrence, NCAS, University of Reading) for the European project: Infrastructure for the European Network for Earth System modelling (IS-ENES.)

This post is suitable for a mid-career scientist who wants to gain experience in the scientific management of large projects and collaborations, has a background in climate modelling (as a researcher/modeller, data user, or software engineer), and an interest in both people and technical infrastructure. The full scope of the infrastructure covered by IS-ENES3 can be found on the website (https://is.enes.org/). Candidates will be expected to have experience in the use or delivery of one or more of these modelling infrastructures.

Main duties

  • Providing scientific assistance to the Project Coordinator and Project Scientist for IS-ENES3.
  • Taking responsibility for the production of a new European Strategy for Earth System modelling in Europe.
  • Contributing to the development of a sustainability plan for the IS-ENES3.
  • Organising the agenda for, and providing the secretariat for, the IS-ENES3 Stakeholders Board and other ENES governance bodies.
  • Participating in the HPC and Data Task force
  • Contributing to the innovation delivered by IS-ENES3.
  • Delivering periodic updates to the IS-ENES3 Data Management Plan.
