The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,965 - £43,470 per annum , inclusive of London Allowance.

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join a well funded, highly interactive research group led by Professor Francesco Muntoni which is investigating the molecular basis of, and treatment for, Neuromuscular diseases. You will be involved in a project which aims to analyse exploratory biomarkers in patients that have participated in a clinical trial aimed at restoring dystrophin production in a subset of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) patients, by a drug that ‘skips’ the mutations causing DMD. 

The main duties of the post are: Perform experiments to determine if de novo dystrophin resulting from skipping of exon 53 induced in patient derived fibroblasts results in the expected size shift of dystrophin protein and Perform experiments to determine if there are differences in dystrophin transcript stability resulting from different patient mutations and/or exon skipping efficiency in patient derived fibroblasts.

This post is available for 3 months from 23 February 2020 until 26 May 2020.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant subject. The successful applicant will have experience of molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, RT-PCR, cell culture, including culture and transfection of primary cells, immunohisto chemical techniques, Western blotting and digital image analysis.
