Applications are invited for the position of Research Degree (PhD) Administrator within the newly formed Cluster, in the School of Clinical Medicine.
The Departments of Radiology, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Medical Genetics have clustered their Professional Services staff to form one integrated team with specialist groups in HR, Finance and Education. This team will manage all administrative matters across the five departments. The departments are housed across multiple different locations.
This role holder will be the Research Degree (PhD) Administrator that provides overall administrative and secretarial support to the Departments PhD Teaching programmes, in connection with organising all aspects of teaching and administration of courses. In addition, to manage the process for all admissions for post-graduate students and provide administrative support for all researcher development activities. The post holder will be the main liaison point for the Graduate School of Life Sciences, the Board of Graduate studies and be Secretary to the Departments Teaching Committees.
The integrated team will support 188 (FTE) staff across the five departments. 48 Academics (including Clinical), 57 Assistant and Academic-related staff, 83 researchers. In addition there are 9 research masters students, 58 PhD students, 20 taught MPhil students, 36 Mst students (mainly administered by the Institute of Continuing Education), and up to 200 Medical Students on rotation through relevant specialties, at any one time. 13 of the research students are clinical fellows.
