PrintCity Technical Officer
We are looking for an Advanced Manufacturing/Polymer Technical Officer to join our Engineering Sciences team working within PrintCity, Manchester within Metropolitan University's advanced 3D printing hub.
A forward-thinking education and innovation centre specialising in 3D printing and digital manufacturing. PrintCity exemplifies the vision of the Government's Industrial Strategy 4.0 that seeks to boost the UK's productivity by fostering a fourth industrial revolution underpinned by internet-enabled technology, digitalisation, connectivity and innovation.
Working in the Print City Facility as a member of the Technical Services Team the role will support Advanced Manufacturing and Polymer Research. Duties will include providing technical advice, training and instruction to service users as part of the research team. There will also be a requirement to work at other MMU sites throughout the Northwest. Maintenance, health and safety, administration and the future development of the area will also feature in this role.
As a specialist technician, the successful candidate will be expected to have experience in a previous 3D fabrication/polymer research environment as well as specialist knowledge of the running and maintenance of 3D printing and or Polymer processing machinery.
You will have a flexible approach to work and an ability to work on your own initiative. You will be expected to participate in internal and external networks and user groups, attending relevant events to keep up to date with the latest developments and techniques and to share information with other team members. Strong communication skills and a commitment to quality service will also play an important role in being successful in this post.
