UCL Biological Services is seeking to recruit an experienced animal technologist and proven leader to join as a Deputy Unit Manager. This opportunity will be based at an animal facility on the Bloomsbury campus.
This post is responsible for the everyday organisation of the work of the animal facilities under the management of the Unit Manager, as well as deputising for the Unit Manager. The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of staff including allocation of work, managing rotas and motivation. A key part will be close liaison with the research community and other stakeholders.
Excellent knowledge of the Animals Scientific Procedures Act 1986 and EU Directive;
Knowledge of the latest developments in bio-security, transgenic breeding and general animal welfare;
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to apply these with stakeholders;
Proven leadership and management skills;
A commitment to the highest standards of animal husbandry and welfare;
Proactive and self-motivated disposition;
Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
