The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures wishes to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching & Research) in World Cinema. This appointment represents significant investment in Film Studies within the department, and is framed with respect to our ambitious future plans, reflecting the strategic development of departmental, school, faculty and university research priorities. The department is also actively building capacity in comparative, global, transnational and transcultural research, which is at the core of this post. You will have a PhD in Film Studies or a relevant related discipline, and an emerging track-record of producing research and publications of international excellence. Applicants should also provide clear evidence of their research and teaching experience in World Cinema. We particularly welcome applications from researchers whose work links with our strategic research themes: Cities, Security and Conflict; Slavery and Unfree Labour; Heritage; Children and Childhood; Digital Humanities and Social Sciences; Medical Humanities and Social Sciences. In your application we specifically invite you to set out your research plans and priorities over the next five years, including an indication of how you intend to engage with the research areas and themes set out above and your plans for developing bids for external funding and for attracting postgraduate research students to Liverpool. You should also comment on your participation, along with other members of the Department, in academic-related activities based on your research interests within the framework of the University’s Strategic Plan. These activities should include the development of research impact and may include programmes for knowledge transfer, outreach, or continuing professional development or other schemes for generating and maintaining links to cultural and community partners outside the University.
