Oxford Brookes University has a vacancy for a 0.63 FTE counselling post, working 25 hours per week. This is a permanent 42 week a year appointment at Headington & Marston Road sites.

The post holder will be part of a motivated team of qualified, and experienced therapists offering a professional, responsive and easily accessible service to students. The Counselling Service provides a varied and flexible programme of therapeutic and psychoeducation interactions to enhance the experience of students whilst at University.

As Solution Focused Therapist you will be responsible for:

  • Providing face to face counselling to students within a brief solution focused therapy model
  • Developing and running psychoeducation workshops and/or groups
  • Contributing to the Service team’s development of policies & practices
  • Conducting clinical assessments, face to face and/ or by telephone with particular reference to risk assessment and crisis management
  • Engaging in the identification and provision of organisational networks and structures to provide appropriate support to the student population
  • Undertaking the supervision of trainee counsellors when appropriate.

You should have:

  • Accreditation with BACP or equivalent
  • Degree or equivalent
  • Counselling training to Diploma level
  • Experience of working as part of a team in an organisational setting
  • Experience/training in short-term counselling and risk/crisis management.

Please note: the successful applicant will need to be subject to a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and barring Service (DBS) before any appointment can be confirmed.
