Providing project/programme management delivery support within AHRC, including the line management of other project managers within the team and oversight of the PMO function.


Programme management – this will include:

  • Business case – Development and clearance of the business case with project leads and SMEs.
  • Communications & Stakeholder Management – Identify and manage stakeholde r relationships and highlight need for senior level support. Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate.
  • Guidance – Provide direction and guidance on development to team and more broadly across departmental profession.

Project Management – this will include:

  • Delivery – Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Project Management – Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Set project controls. Design the project structure appropriate to stage. Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies.

Team Management

  • Provide line management initially for one project/programme specialist with the possibility of further growth as the PMO function develops.
  • Provide oversight of the AHRC PMO function to ensure that Project Support is being provided in the most efficient and e ffective way.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to best practice standards in project and programme governance, working closely with the Project Delivery Hub and Project Profession to keep abreast of developments and requirements.

You will need:

  • Degree level qualification
  • The ability to establish and develop productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, bringing people together to benefit the project.
  • The ability to influence, change and impact decisions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to recognize, anticipate and effectively deal with existing or potential conflicts at an individual, team or strategic level.
  • The ability to engage, motivate and coach others. To act as a role model and inspire and empower others.
