An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ground maintenance team of Leeds Beckett University.
We are seeking to employ an experienced and enthusiastic Grounds Maintenance Assistant to help with us with the delivery of an efficient and effective, highly customer focussed service to the University estate.
You must have recent experience of working within a ground maintenance environment, and a good knowledge of horticulture. You will need the ability to work as part of a team, as well as the ability to use your own initiative and work unsupervised. Duties range from mowing and strimming, maintenance of borders, hedging and lawns, snow clearance and gritting, and the management of woodland habitats.
You will be qualified to a NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Horticulture and should have experience in operating a variety of grounds machinery equipment. This position will also require the post holder to use a range of compact and agricultural tractors, and so either a tractor driving licence or a commitment to undertake and pass the course with the first 12 months in post is required. PA1 and PA6 would also be an advantage but not essential. This role will require the postholder to drive the University vehicle around campus and between sites, transporting equipment and towing, therefore a full current driving licence is essential for this role.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated with a high attention to detail and a love for horticulture. They will be required to participate in out of hours works, especially in winter, when required.
To arrange an informal discussion about this post, please contact Jenny Bridger at J.Bridger@leedsbeckett.ac.uk or on 0113 812 3187.
Closing date: Friday 1st October 2021 (Midnight)

We welcome applications from all individuals and particularly from black and minority ethnic candidates as members of these groups are currently under-represented at this level of post. All appointments will be based on merit.
