The four other teams in DASA are: The Outreach team, the Access and Participation team, the Apprenticeships team and Careers and Employability. All five teams work together and with internal and external stakeholders to support the student lifecycle.

Academic Skills Advisers (Maths and Statistics) are responsible for developing innovative and inclusive academic maths and statistics skills support, using their significant experience and expertise in maths and statistical methods development. This includes contributing to the ongoing development of our online and face-to-face provision for undergraduate and post-graduate students, such as: workshops, events and activities, resources and delivering one-to-one support.  Academic Skills Advisers also work in collaboration with academic staff to develop and embed students’ maths and statistics skills within the curriculum and to enhance student retention, success and satisfaction.

The Academic Skills Team prides itself on offering an inclusive provision and encourages applications from candidates who represent the diversity of our students and wider society. We particularly welcome applications from groups currently under-represented in the Academic Skills Team, particularly men and candidates from black and minority ethnic communities. All appointments will be made on merit.

You will have a good undergraduate degree, preferably a higher degree, excellent IT skills and digital fluency, and be able to demonstrate excellent team-working skills.  A recognised teaching qualification is desirable, and experience of undergraduate teaching or experience of providing maths and statistics skills or numeracy support at HE or advanced FE level is essential.

As you will be expected to be able to work from home and flexibly across all University campuses and sites, a current UK driving licence or willingness to travel is essential.
