As a key leadership role within the University, you will support the Director of HR (HRD) as the ‘go to’ member of the senior HR team for the University Executive Board members. You will be a subject matter expert and contribute to, and share, ownership of key decisions for the development and delivery of the HR service, including the University’s people strategies. Therefore, it is essential that you have the ability to work effectively at both the strategic and operational level, as you will be the key player between the two.
Initially, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the HR transformation project, where you will develop and deliver transformational change in HR, providing expert leadership throughout, including ensuring the wider HR team operate as an integrated whole. You will drive forward excellence with your highly developed leadership skills, encouraging team members to focus on customer experience and taking pride in their work, whilst fostering a positive culture. You will need to be a role model that pioneers a positive and supportive culture that excels the University values.
You will also lead key strategic projects in crucial areas such as EDI, wellbeing and reward. You will be responsible for ensuring that these objectives are aligned to the Departments’ overall objectives and be the linchpin to effectively embed and communicate these to wider HR team members. Therefore, it is essential that you can analyse complex situations, challenging ambiguity where necessary to generate concise evaluations and opinions, both orally and in writing.
Your interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate, influence, and motivate others are vital to promote an ethos of continuous improvement and striving for excellence within your area.
You will need to be an experienced collaborator and continue to grow internal and external relationships at all levels across the University, especially within the senior management team, to secure ownership of changes and to ensure that the Department makes an effective contribution to the achievement of the University’s objectives.
As an engaging communicator, you will be confident to establish effective working relationships and communicating in a range of formal and informal settings.
