The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to appoint a research assistant on a part time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term contract for a period of 16 months. The position is available as of the January 2022.
We are seeking to recruit a research assistant with expertise in semantics to contribute to the project “Logic in semantic universals”, funded by the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship (PI: Dr Wataru Uegaki).
The goal of the job is to help create a cross-linguistic database of semantic properties of four domains of logical vocabularies: connectives, quantifiers, modals, and clause-embedding predicates. The role involves development of empirical tests for a set of semantic properties relevant for the vocabularies (in collaboration with the PI and other team members) and annotation of these properties based on the tests in consultation with native speakers.
