Contract: Maternity Cover – Fixed term for 12 months

Location: This position will be based at the Singleton Campus, Swansea

You will be responsible for managing postgraduate student recruitment to help meet the University’s strategic aim of becoming a Top 20 University. You will understand the imperative to provide a professional service in line with the University’s growth plans, identifying opportunities to improve the service and provide best practice for recruitment support. 

Main Purpose of Post

  1. Line manage, and co-ordinate with, the work of the Postgraduate Student Recruitment Officer and Postgraduate Recruitment Assistant.
  2. Manage postgraduate recruitment and conversion events.
  3. Manage attendance at external UK recruitment fairs and events.
  4. Deliver presentations on a range of postgraduate topics at internal and external postgraduate recruitment events
  5. Manage the postgraduate open day budget and monitor the overall postgraduate recruitment budget (reporting to the overall budget holder as appropriate).
  6. Develop an extensive knowledge and understanding of the University’s postgraduate programmes, application procedures, funding arrangements and support mechanisms and provide guidance to prospective students.
  7. Manage externally produced postgraduate course listings and databases.
  8. Oversee the production of a suite of postgraduate recruitment publications.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate teams to reach targets.
  • Highly developed organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Highly developed communication and presentational skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of planning and using digital marketing methods to reach target markets.
  • A thorough understanding of the major issues in postgraduate student recruitment and marketing.
  • Excellent IT skills, including experience of using word processing, spreadsheet, presentational and database packages.
  • Full driving licence as role holder will be required to drive to events, albeit reasonable adjustments will be considered, as appropriate.
