York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

As one of the fastest growing universities in the U.K over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset.

Initial Teacher Education (ITE) is part of the School of Education, Language and Psychology. Within ITE we offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes - a three year BA Primary Education programme, a one year PGCE Primary programme (both university centred and School Direct) and a one year PGCE Secondary School Direct programme in a range of subject areas. Partnership and collaboration is at the heart of our ITE programmes and we work with a broad range of partners/schools across the region. Our latest Ofsted report acknowledged that ‘The York St John partnership is highly respected within the region and everyone involved is committed to creating the ‘teachers of the future’.

The majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. Your work will also involve some link tutoring and liaison with our partnership schools.

For applicants not currently in possession of a doctoral qualification there will be a clear expectation to work towards such from commencing employment.

This role can be available at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. Please refer to the below Job Descriptions and 'Senior Lecturer criteria' document and provide evidence within the 'supporting statements' section of your application to demonstrate that you meet the requirements.
