Contract: Part Time, 12 hours per week, This is a fixed term position until 31st December 2022

Location: This position will be based at the Singleton Campus

Main Purpose of the post

This is a role that will suit someone with an existing background in both project management and research marketing/communications. You will be expected to lead a small but effective project team, with significant direction from the project PI, Prof Nuria Lorenzo-Dus. You must demonstrate excellent partnership development skills and be able to build and maintain strong relationships with a range of external stakeholders in Wales, the UK and internationally. You will be able to work flexibly and you will have a positive approach to challenges. Your ability to deliver outcomes will be key.

You will be responsible for applying the following independently in situations:

  1. Promoting the wider public good in all actions, acting in a morally, legally and socially appropriate manner in dealings with stakeholders and members of the project team and the University.
  2. Identifying, addressing and resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups involved in the project
  3. Determining the best means of satisfying requirements within the context of project objectives and constraints, i.e. developing solutions
  4. Delivering the project’s media and communications strategy, making use of a variety of digital channels, including social media platforms.

Essential Criteria

Qualification:

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent
  2. Willingness to work towards an Association for Project Management (APM) qualification
  3. Willingness to work towards APM membership

Experience:

  1. Experience in managing and monitoring project finances to ensure that the project is delivered within budget and achieves value for money
  2. Experience in creating a detailed project plan on a project with limited complexity and then managing and monitoring the plan to ensure successful completion of activities to achieve the required quality, timescales and budget targets
  3. Experience in digital research marketing /communications, including social media
  4. Experience of identifying risks and planning, implementing and monitoring responses to those risks on a complex project
  5. Experience of managing and influencing stakeholders on a project of limited complexity

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Good organisational skills, the ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, and to organise and prioritise own work and that of others in order to meet project milestones
  2. Good communication skills with clear evidence of effective presentation skills, report-writing skills and the ability to converse with a range of stakeholders
  3. Knowledge of a project management planning tool such as MS Project
  4. Knowledge of public and third- sector within Wales
  5. Willingness to travel to meet clients and other stakeholders at different locations within Wales, UK and internationally
  6. Experience of writing proposals and submitting bids to funding bodies
  7. Experience of operating within governance structures for a project
  8. Knowledge of public and third- sector within the UK and internationally
  9. Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional career development
