The Moray House School of Education and Sport is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to support the ESRC funded project “Political Economies of School Exclusion and its consequences (Excluded Lives)”. 

The Opportunity: 

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Gillean McCluskey on this key project contributing to all aspects of the project, including analysis of exclusion, fieldwork and engagement with stakeholders involved. 

Your skills and attributes for success: An appropriate degree, with relevant postgraduate research experience. Normally a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience. 

  • Advanced knowledge in at least one of the following: how to involve young people and parents in research; education policy; issues of inequality 

  • Methodological expertise in qualitative research with young people and their families; secondary data analysis; policy and systems analysis 

  • Excellent organisational skills in developing a strategic work plan and collaboratively delivering with others 

  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills in English, for both academic and practitioner audiences.
