University College Cork (UCC) is a research-intensive, student-centric and future-focused university. It is home to the highest number of the top 1% of the world’s most influential researchers among any Irish university and is a national leader in research income generation. In line with its research vision, UCC Futures is an ambitious programme of academic recruitment across 10 indicative areas of strategic importance spanning the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, STEM, Business and Law: (https://ucc.ie/en/futures/ https://ucc.ie/en/futures/radicalhumanities/). The academic posts identified in this first phase of the UCC Futures programme recruitment will underpin and enhance one or more of these ten indicative areas of strategic research importance. They will drive a creative, inclusive, interdisciplinarity and provide transformative leadership that further enhances UCC’s reputation for outstanding research and research-informed teaching.

Applications are sought for 12 positions within the new Radical Humanities Laboratory. The appointment of researchers of excellence, from Lecturer to Professor (Scale 2), will connect disciplines and research strengths across the university, mapping to existing research strengths within the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences. Applications are particularly welcome from those with a disruptive and transformative research focus in, for example, one or more of the following areas:

• Artistic Research, Artistic Thinking and Design Thinking

Applicants are expected to have demonstrable leadership and academic potential, with a portfolio of significant research accomplishments, collaborative engagements and tangible translation to substantive impact. The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level; a reduced teaching load will be assured during the first four years of these appointments. The successful applicants will be supported in embedding and enhancing their research activities, with a particular focus on the acquisition of funding through the European Research Council programme.

Please note that Garda vetting and/or an international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.

For an information package including full details of the post, selection criteria and application process see https://ore.ucc.ie/. The University, at its discretion, may undertake to make an additional appointment(s) from this competition following the conclusion of the process.
