The UCL Centre for Educational Leadership has a national and global impact in transforming education through leadership excellence. We are the UK’s largest university-based centre for research, teaching, development and innovation in educational leadership. Located in the UCL Institute of Education, we are a world-leading centre for knowledge creation, exchange and application for improving the quality of leadership, management and learning in education in London, the UK, and internationally. Our work includes the design and delivery of the National Professional Qualifications for School Leadership, the Early Career Teacher Programmes (Early Career Framework) and a wide range of national and international knowledge exchange and consultancy programmes. Each year these programmes are delivered to over 15,000 teachers and school leaders.
This important post is primarily responsible for managing the finances of a highly successful professional development enterprise which has an annual turn-over of around £12 Million. The main purpose of the role is to manage the financial activities of the professional development activity within the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership with a specific focus on the Centre’s enterprise contracts. The role holder will ensure effective procedures are documented and adopted for dealing with all aspects of financial management and reporting. This will include financial forecasting, processing financial transactions, preparing reports and financial contract management.
The post holder will lead in achieving a high quality and timely service to staff, professional students, delivery partners, schools, government department clients and others internal and external to the Centre. The role will also include supporting the development of our new student management system from a financial perspective. Finally, the role holder will become the expert in our Centre for all things finance, enjoy providing training for non-financial staff and will work closely with the UCL and faculty finance teams. The role holder will be responsible for developing financial service specifications to ensure that we work effectively with our 22 delivery partners and that finance processes are automated as much as possible.
The successful candidate will have a Batchelor degree in relevant area or equivalent. You have a passion for data with some experience of working in a university or training environment. The candidate should be studying for or have been awarded a professional finance qualification. The post holder will have high level of numeracy, with the ability to understand an interpret a variety of figures and statistics and will have effective time management skills.
