The UCL Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) is a multidisciplinary department with a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are designed to educate Engineers in a dynamic and exciting learning environment. The Department has an extensive research portfolio across a wealth of areas and has consistently been among the best funded such departments in the UK. The research carried out in the department reflects a broad multidisciplinary view of the engineering world and encompasses navigation of space shuttles and control of observation satellites, to tunneling beneath the planet’s surface, for example. Research projects and centres span disciplines to provide new and innovative solutions and thinking that refers back to the human and the applied.

The Senior Research Officer will lead on all grant and funding administration, any consultancy activity and the general management and monitoring of current and proposed research projects. You will be instrumental in delivering the department’s research administration by contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the department’s research output and promote collaborations between disciplines, external researchers and industry.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within HE or similar research environment, knowledge of research funding processes and regulations within a HE/research environment, and experience of providing administrative assistance in the preparation of research funding applications. Experience of using online financial systems such as MyFinance and Worktribe, and excellent analytical skills including ability to research, analyse and interpret financial information, are also essential. Knowledge of contemporary strategic issues and challenges facing both higher education and the research specialism of the department, and experience of providing administrative assistance in the preparation of REF submissions, would be an advantage.
