As part of the strategic development, we are looking to appoint a lecturer in the field of robotics and mechatronics. The successful candidate will join the internationally recognised School of Engineering of Cardiff University and colleagues who are tackling a wide range of problems at the interface of robotics, autonomous systems, human robot interaction, artificial intelligence and so on.
Applications are sought from candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance existing strengths within the school of engineering. We are interested in applicants whose work will strengthen ongoing partnerships with related disciplines, and foster new research collaborations both within the university and beyond.
The successful applicant for this post will undertake research in related areas of Robotics and Mechatronics, including (but not limited to) robot design and control for novel manipulators or mobile robot locomotion, biomimetic and bio-inspired robotics, soft robots, robot compliance design and control, haptic/tactile interfaces, optimal control, automation for intelligent manufacturing applications, and so on.
The successful applicant will be assigned to teach on modules related to robotics and mechatronics on postgraduate and undergraduate degree programmes offered by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, and will be expected to supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
Applicants should have excellent publication and track records and demonstrate the ability to obtain research funding and support. The successful candidates will also contribute to the ambitious teaching aspirations of the School and seek to be inspiring and innovative teachers at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
Associated with the strategic cross-cutting theme of Robotics and AI, the successful candidate will be encouraged and given the opportunity to collaborate with different research groups of the school, and also with other school/departments in the university.
This post is full time, available from February 2022 and is open ended.
