Job Summary
This is a key position within the core administrative team of the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), a department within the Faculty of Medicine. The successful candidate will contribute across a range of areas including vital HR processes such as academic staff recruitment, induction, probation, pay review and promotion. The postholder is also responsible for coordinating the NHLI’s equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) work. The postholder will provide professional, confidential and efficient support to NHLI staff on HR matters. It is essential that the postholder has the ability to provide a proactive and high level of service with excellent attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
Duties and responsibilities
You will support academic recruitment with the NHLI, and enable best practice in induction, probation and career development for all staff groups. Other duties include coordination of the staff appraisal process, pay review and promotion. You will proactively support a number of committees within NHLI and will be expected to contribute to the overall effective management of the NHLI, working collaboratively.
Essential requirements
You should have relevant experience in a university environment with an in depth understanding of the complexities of working in the sector. You should have experience with the development of initiatives in areas relating to staff development and EDI. You will have very high standards and and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage a broad range of responsibilities in a timely way. You will be able to analyse and present complex data coherently for a wide audience. You will be able to interpret and explain policies and procedures and be able to deal sensitively with confidential information.
