Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge? Would you like to help students make their first steps into a professional engineering career? Do you have the skills to encourage them to make the most of any opportunity?
The Faculty of Engineering at The University of Nottingham is known for its world-class research and inspirational teaching and offers exciting opportunities for our students to work closely with many high performing companies. These strong links with industrial partners can be seen in their involvement across our degree programmes. We also have an increasing number of students choosing to undertake an industrial placement as part of their degree and have “with industrial year” variants across all of our undergraduate programmes. To support this growth we are looking for someone to join our existing Faculty Placement Team.
The role holder will have specific responsibility for the development, management and delivery of industrial placement provision, including supporting students with securing a suitable placement and identifying new placement opportunities with local, national and international companies. You will also need to visit students in their workplace to provide them with coaching and support and to nurture relationships with the employer. Travel for these visits, overnight stays and attendance at events will form an important part of this position and a flexible approach to working patterns is therefore required. This work will be done in conjunction with the wider Faculty Placements Team and the Faculty Careers Consultants.
Candidates should have substantial experience of working in or with private sector engineering companies. Candidates should also possess excellent project management skills and proven ability to independently manage a demanding workload. The role will be based in the Faculty of Engineering Professional Services Hub located on the University Park campus. This is a vibrant office providing extensive and varied support across the Faculty.
The post is offered on a permanent, full time (36.25 hours per week) contract. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Sarah Shackleton, Senior Education and Student Experience Manager for External Engagement: sarah.shackleton@nottingham.ac.uk
