Academic Section

The Academic Section is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration and plays a central role in delivering the University’s commitment to excellence in education across the University. The University is going through an exciting period of strategic international partnership development which Essex Abroad, alongside the Partnerships team in the Academic Section, is playing a key role in supporting.

Essex Abroad is responsible for the coordination and management of all forms of student international mobility on behalf of the University, this includes student exchanges, Turing, ISEP, study abroad, overseas work and volunteering and summer schools abroad.

Duties of the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to manage the production, review and updating of all our exchange agreements. This involves complex negotiations on the terms and conditions and student exchange numbers and services available with Partner Institutions. In addition to this, the role has responsibility for confirming and distributing to students the allocation of funding through the British Government’s Turing funding scheme.

Other duties will include: producing Turing funding reports and Erasmus+ funding reports; supporting the Essex Abroad Manager in monitoring the Essex Abroad budget and processing all payments, including the University’s bursaries and externally funded scholarships; and contributing to the broader work of the team, including actively engaging with the promotion of Essex Abroad through supporting events, marketing promotions, social media activities and campaigns.

This appointment is for a fixed-term from 01 September 2022 to 31 August 2023 in order to provide cover for a permanent member of staff who is absent from work on maternity leave. You should note that there is provision in the terms of appointment for this fixed-term post to end earlier by due notice (1 month), if the permanent member of staff decides to return early to her post.
