About the role

At the University of Leicester we have a strong and well-established commitment to ensuring that principles and practices of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are at the heart of all that we do. One of our strategic aims is to recognise and value diversity, ensure equality of opportunity and enable all of our staff and students to flourish in an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.

We are looking for an exceptional EDI professional to join the University’s EDI Team as Head of EDI Charters. You will work closely with the Associate Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and will have responsibility for leading external equality accreditations, managing the University’s work towards achieving and progressing key equality charters and benchmarking activities, including Athena Swan, the Race Equality Charter and Stonewall Workplace Equality Index.

An important part of the role will be to analyse and present equality data for key activities such as gender pay gap reporting, equality charter submissions and equality analysis. Working with key stakeholders to provide tailored advice, support and guidance and support schools and departments across the University in implementing effective initiatives and activities.

About you

You will be a self-motivated team member, who will exercise integrity and sensitivity in the fulfilment of the role. With experience of analysing, interpreting and reporting on complex quantitative and qualitative data, you will be able to implement and monitor action or work plans that drive real change. Detailed knowledge of Athena Swan, the Race Equality Charter or similar equality charters is key, alongside other relevant work experience such as project management, report writing and other general administrative procedures.

Though not essential, you may have experience of working within the Higher Education sector, as well as developing and delivering training, briefings and seminars to a wide variety of audiences. You will have a pro-active and flexible approach, using these skills to influence and negotiate appropriately and sensitively with a range of stakeholders.
