This is an exciting opportunity to join the ambitious and newly formed School of Biosciences, Geography and Physics within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School of Biosciences, Geography and Physics is a cutting-edge research and teaching environment within the Faculty of Science and Engineering with state-of-the-art facilities.

The Department of Biosciences has benefited from external funding totalling more than £6 million in recent years, supporting research officer appointments and further enhancement of excellent aquatic laboratory and sea-going facilities, visualization lab to analyse animal movement and behaviours, molecular lab, biosafety (CAT-2) lab, greenhouse and photobioreactor facilities, a suite of temperature-controlled rooms, and more. Recent departmental research highlights include; climate change impacts in marine environments, the molecular and biochemical intricacies of microbial communities, elucidating the behavioural ecology of animal movement and describing the ecosystem structure and the impacts of invasion. 

The ideal candidates will have a research track record as demonstrated by research outputs, successful research funding applications and delivering impact appropriate at Lecturer level. Experience in algal biotechnology and molecular/analytical methodology is essential.

Candidates should have a passion for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level to inspire and educate future scholars, looking for ways to deliver innovative teaching and learning, engage students, support their employability, and to deliver the highest possible levels of student experience.
