Due to the increasing sophistication, stealth, and destructiveness of cyber-attacks, the University is re-evaluating its cyber security capabilities in the areas of threat prevention, detection, and response. Therefore, we are creating a new Cyber Security Team (including Operations) within the University’s Information Services department.
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and capable applicant to lead, build and develop the Cyber Security Operations team. Candidates should have recent experience of working in a cyber security environment and dealt with related situations, showing their commitment to providing a high level of service.
The Cyber Security Operations Manager will lead the Operations team who are responsible for carrying out day to day cyber security related duties such as responding to security incidents, reporting threats, vulnerabilities and attacks on the university's systems. They will also liaise with internal and partner technical specialists and stakeholders, to agree on appropriate operational Cyber Security measures to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of university systems and data. They will provide a focal point for cyber security and cyber security risk matters in liaison with our external Security Operations Centre.
The Cyber Security Operations Manager will also be required to advise and offer guidance on existing security arrangements and be actively involved in the specification, design and implementation of new services.
Applicants must be up to date with developments in best practise, standards, and technologies within the sector and beyond.
