An opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate, jointly located at the Department of Politics and International Relations and the newly established South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre to work with Dr Matthew Wood on an innovative interdisciplinary research project focused on the implementation of Net Zero in public policy. You will be a creative researcher with experience of applying multiple research methods, dedicated to discovering how to make our world more sustainable.
You will work in collaboration with Dr Wood to develop an exciting programme of research on sustainability using multiple research methods. You will draw on South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre’s excellent research and practitioner networks both locally, nationally and internationally to co-produce research with a multi-disciplinary team. You will also be motivated to work collaboratively with voluntary and community organisations, and local and national policy makers to co-design the research.
Specifically we are looking for someone with, or nearing the completion, of a PhD, or with alternative equivalent experience. You will have a strong interest in sustainability issues and experience of applying multiple research methods in empirical research. The successful candidate will have considerable organisational skills and a willingness to adapt and take on new tasks. You will need to work independently and as a part of a wider team to deliver research outputs. As part of this post, we are committed to providing training, mentoring and support to develop the successful candidate’s skills and will help you advance your own career goals.
