The Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) comprises of seven leading research groups bringing together a broad range of disciplines from astrophysics to bio-engineering and computer games technology to microwave research. FET is a newly structured Faculty with a dynamic approach to teaching, research and industrial outreach activities.
We currently have a dedicated, highly motivated team responsible for the delivery of the LCR 4.0 START programme, an exciting initiative part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which is part of the legacy of projects following the pioneering LCR 4.0 project. The project is a key part of the business support landscape to increase productivity in Liverpool City Region (LCR) organisations through the development of digital innovation strategies for growth. LCR 4.0 START offers the opportunity for LCR to position itself at the forefront of an emerging global revolution driven by technology advances merging digital and physical worlds and leading in Industry 4.0 technologies.
As part of the team, representing LJMU, we are seeking a Business Engagement Officer with a focus on sensor technology who will be responsible for identifying and recruiting SMEs onto the LCR 4.0 START project and diagnosing specific sensor technology opportunities. Your role will involve client management from initial engagement through to assist completion, ensuring expectations of the client are met and ERDF monitoring regulations are adhered to, delivering project assists relating to digital innovation strategies for SMEs.

You will ideally be a flexible, dynamic and enthusiastic individual with experience of client management, the industrial landscape and knowledge of how SMEs can benefit from digital innovation journey. You will be responsible for delivering the project outputs in terms of providing recommendations for digital innovation and sensor opportunities to SMEs. You will join a multidisciplinary team focusing on working closely with SMEs and the knowledge base within the University to enhance productivity and develop and implement strategies to stimulate the development of new products through innovation practices. Reporting to the Strategic Manager responsible for the project, you will also be required to support the activities of the wider team, and have the ability to work using your own initiative.
Ideally, you should have relevant experience of Industry 4.0, ERDF processes and the benefits that organisations can gain from adopting new digital technological advancements.
The post is part-funded by ERDF as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme. The post is fixed term until 31st March 2023.
