The Faculty of Engineering and Environment brings together colleagues across a range of research focused discipline areas. An academically diverse faculty, with an ambitious vision to expand our multidisciplinary research and to develop and embed distinctive research-enriched education, which complements, enhances and benefits from our research and knowledge exchange.
The department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering has research strengths in areas including: Civil Engineering Heritage, Renewable Energy Systems, Smart Materials & Surfaces, Automotive Engineering and Aerodynamics, with financial support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), The Royal Society, Innovate UK, and European Union.
Working within the Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering, you will provide expertise in an area of Civil Engineering to further enhance research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities. This will include designing, developing and delivering high-quality teaching activities, undertaking individual and joint research to produce high-quality academic outputs, and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject. You should be passionate about education and the student experience and be able to contribute to continued strong NSS results.
Candidates should be able to evidence excellence in the development and delivery of teaching in Civil Engineering. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with strengths in any of the following areas:

You must hold a first degree and be qualified to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline and have subject expertise in Civil Engineering with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. Proven ability to deliver high-quality research-led teaching within an appropriate field and in particular a strong publication profile are essential.
