We are looking for a Student Casework Manager to join the Office of Student Complaints, Conduct and Appeals (OSCCA) in the Academic Services department. The role primarily deals with casework for student complaints, academic appeals and non-academic student misconduct matters as well as fitness to practise cases. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who has experience in student complaints, academic appeals and non-academic student misconduct, or who has relevant legal experience or qualifications, and who is interested in pursuing a professional role in this area.

The successful applicant will be required to process student complaints, academic appeals, academic and non-academic student misconduct cases in a professional, timely manner and to prepare the University’s response to complaints made to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator.

Part of the role will require the postholder to act as Investigating Officer for non-academic student misconduct offences. They will also act as the University Representative in student cases which go before a Misconduct Panel or Misconduct Appeals Panel. 

Ideally the successful applicant will be educated to degree level, with Postgraduate qualifications and legal training. They will have an understanding of the key principles of natural justice and the Equality and Diversity statutory requirements. They must be an effective communicator, with excellent administrative skills including note taking. They will need to be able to address an audience, write clearly and concisely, with attention to detail, and have a strong ability to argue a case.
