UCL Careers is a department of approximately 70 staff, that provides careers education to current students, graduates and staff of UCL, as well as recruitment solutions for employers. Full access to all activities and services is available for graduates up to three years’ after course completion.
The Alumni Relations team aim to build a lifelong connection with our global alumni community of over 350,000 to advance the mission of UCL. The team empower, engage and support our global alumni community through a dynamic programme of communications, events and activities as well as inspire our community to give back through philanthropy and volunteering.
About the role
This is a fixed term role for maternity cover, until January 2024 in the first instance. Interviews will be held on the 15th of December 2022.
This post will sit within UCL Careers with strong links to the Alumni Relations team, working to cultivate and engage more alumni to support the employability of UCL students and recent graduates. The role holder will also act as champion for recent graduates, working closely with the Alumni Relations team to support collaborative professional development programming and initiatives.
There is a strong willingness in the alumni community to support the career development of the UCL student and recent graduate community, sharing their expertise in their profession, as well as their networks. This role will work closely with both the Careers and Alumni Relations teams to champion the positive impact of alumni in central careers development programmes, supporting existing initiatives such as alumni participation in Careers Sector Insight Programmes, as well as spotting opportunities for new employer engagement via alumni networks, and increasing engagement with international alumni.
Acting as an integral link between the two departments, the role holder will support the positive journey from student to future alumni volunteer and advocate. They will draw upon inspiring alumni role models to support students’ and recent graduates’ career planning, in an inclusive way that particularly serves students at most need of Careers support and Widening Participation groups.
This role is currently a hybrid role, with an expectation of at least 20% time spent in the office, and additional time when needed for events and meetings.

The role holder will be highly effective communicator, and able to work in a collaborative setting, juggling multiple priorities while remaining organised. They will have a strong track record of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and particularly in working with volunteers.
