The primary purpose of the role is to support the Gaelic Language Plan Advisory Group to promote the Gaelic language and achieve the commitments set out in the University’s Gaelic Language Plan.

The Gaelic Language Development Officer will raise awareness of the Gaelic language and create an environment where staff and students as well as the wider community have the opportunity to learn and use Gaelic.

The post holder will work with all Schools and Directorates but particularly closely with the School of Language, Literature, Music, and Visual Culture, the School of Education and the Directorate of External Relations.

The successful candidate will have Gaelic language skills and have a keen interest in promoting the Gaelic language.  Excellent oral and written communication skills will be essential to support the work expected of the postholder which will include writing reports, developing and monitoring action plans and presenting information accurately and clearly.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 5, £28,756 - £32,344 per annum  with placement according to qualifications and experience.

This appointment is offered for a period of 12 months.
